Game Bird Shooting Print E-mail

Game bird hunting is available throughout New Zealand and can be a great accompaniment to both a fly fishing or big game hunting experience.  European settlers introduced 25 different species of waterfowl and 29 species of upland game birds for hunting.  Only 4 species of waterfowl eventually established and of the upland game birds only Californian Quail, Brown Quail, Chukor and Pheasant remain in plentiful supply to be able to hunt.  The hunting season in most regions begins the first Saturday in May and continues until the end of August.  For more information on these wonderful and challenging game birds click on the Game Bird Species page.
